Ancient Practices was the precursor to Ancestor Paths.
Although I knew I would be working on Ancestor Paths as the main project,
spirit wanted me to feed searching souls with something - spirit wanted people to have something in their hands to begin their understanding of their spiritual journey. So I put out
"Ancient Practices" as a small portion to the larger project
"Ancestor Paths" that I will try to outline for you. First off, Ancestor Paths is 212 pages (150 additional pages) of in-depth information about communing with our spiritual guides. The book has
12 chapters including additional poems that sit separately throughout the book. The chapter
breakdown is as follows:
The Tribute
A Prayer called - "I Surrender"
Chapter I - Foreword & Introduction - which is the sneak-peek into
my life and experiences that led me down the path to discovering spiritualism
and ancestor worship. This section has additional information that is not in Ancient Practices. I give more insight and clarity into my experiences starting out on my spiritual journey. For instance, I speak about the first time I heard the voice of spirit in my one moment of having a suicidal thought.
Words of Wisdom - inspirational words that speak of the
individual journey that each person must take to find their own path. This section is dedicated by the Native American spirits and their inspirational wisdom for humankind.
Prayer - the Great Indian Spirit
Chapter II - Calling of the Spirit - This chapter discusses the reasons
why many people are increasingly unhappy, incomplete, and unfulfilled. This is
the soul journey. The soul searching for the spiritual home that will bring it
peace and for this reason many people are broadening their beliefs and education of
spiritual systems from around the world. I discuss the need to be true to thyself
with ways to satisfy that SOUL calling.
Poem - God in Me
Chapter III - Drumming to the Beat - this section discusses the history of
Afrikan slave trade. Also speaks of the reasons for ancestor worship and its
importance from the prospective of many cultures, particularly Afrikan.
Chapter IV - Diminishing the Vodou Mentality - The truth about Vodou (proper spelling).
This chapter discusses the reasons why people have a voodoo mentality to begin
with. More history and the misconceptions of vodou bringing forth clarity to
the true meaning. I discuss the difference between Vodoun as a religion vs. juju, rootwork, hoodoo vs. New Orleans voodoo or Southern voodoo. This chapter continues to expound upon the importance of
ancestor worship and how the ancestors influence our lives. I further explain
to those seeking this spiritual path, what types of people and situations to be
leery of. I identify the various mentalities/personalities you may encounter
that are counterproductive to the purpose of why we venerate spirit.

Chapter V - Spirit Guides - this chapter discusses and brings clarity to
the world of spirit. It discusses spirits of varying degrees, their
characteristics, and the purpose in our lives.
Chapter VI - Children and Spirits - this chapter discusses children and
their association to the spirit realm. How spirits good and bad can influence
them. This section offers parents insight to understanding on how to deal with
their children who has the gift of seeing, hearing, or feeling spirits. This section includes two real-life childhood spirit experiences.
Chapter VII - Spirit Stories - this chapter are the stories and
experiences collected from my own experiences and those of my family &
friends. Will give you some idea about how different the personalities are from
spirit to spirit and will show you the various ways that spirit guides can
communicate and help us during our lives.
Chapter VIII - Ritual Success - this chapter discusses the tools needed for
successful rituals. There are suggestions for preparing one's self for a ritual
including building an altar and how to make spirit contact. This includes space clearing, building and altar, offerings, making spirit contact, positive
and negative affects of spirit contact.
Chapter IX - Tools of the Trade - this chapter discusses the importance of
proper attitude, the items and ingredients needed for a ritual: planning,
candles, anointing oils, do-it-yourself herbal baths, floorwashes, along with sample
remedies, and incense burning. The purpose of spiritual baths and cleansings - how the help to uplift your spirit or cleanse your aura.
Chapter X - Praying & Prayers - this chapter is the importance of
prayer along with sample prayers: altar
prayer, guardian angel prayer, ancestral prayers, ancestral healing prayer,
prayer of light, cleansing prayer, forgiveness prayer, for the expired, prayer
to break curses, release from bondage, release from negativity, prayer for
empowerment, health & healing prayer, love prayer, love blessing prayer,
money blessing prayer, protection prayer, open door prayer, prosperity prayer,
employment prayers, releasing feminine power, during a spiritual gathering,
closing a spiritual gathering, and prayers for children.
Chapter XI - Divination - this chapter discusses what is divination, the
types of, the purpose of divination and how it can influence our lives in a
positive manner. The importance of interpretating spirit messages from by both the client and diviner. I speak about ebbo (making the offering) and what clients should expect from a divination reading. I also discuss how the
realm of spirit work through divination.
Includes client do's and dont's as well as diviner do's and dont's.
Chapter XII - What Now? - this chapter is the largest and most indepth of
all chapters. This chapter discusses options for those who would like to take
their spiritual experiences to the next level toward priesthood. This section gives positives and negatives of
what to expect during your development phases and from entering into this spiritual system. It gives recommendations on how to move
forward, cautiously, and what types of people and situations to be aware of.
Gives advice on how to choose a spiritual teacher, a godparent, and the various
types. The responsiblities of an Ile (house). In the end, it really brings
clarity to some of the initiation phases but also lets one know that they have
choices that could minimize potential victimization from false priest and priestesses. Also, gives an overview of Ocha, Palo
Mayombe, Haitian Vodou, Sanse, and Dominican Vodou (21 Divisions).
